Seminar house Proitzer Müehle

THE VENUE

Our gatherings take place in Protzer Müehle in North Germany, in the hills of a nature reserve park of the Elba River.  Surrounded by  forests, meadows, and lakes it is an old water mill, whose history goes back to the 14th century.

The buildings are on a 10-hectare site and have been remodeled to a high standard. It is now a venue for spiritual seminars and dance groups.

The main house features a large dance hall with a wooden spring-floor, where we hold our main sessions. Two more meeting rooms give us the opportunity to have a few classes running simultaneously.

The area provides a lot of opportunity for spending quality time outdoors, weather permitting. Be that a long walk along the fields and even into the forests,  a courageous dive in a local pond, or simply dining al-fresco or just having a cuppa at one of the many sitting areas around the mill, fresh air of the German countryside gives us a pleasurable  summer experience.

ACCOMMODATION

The venue has plentiful accommodation in the main house, as well as in two newer houses. Most of the rooms are en-suite, and those that are not share a bathroom with one or (more rarely) two other rooms.

A few single rooms are available, and one is always advised to book those early. The majority of rooms are double and triple.

Camping in one’s own tent is also a possiblity, as well as staying in a bigger shared (dormitory style, a.k.a “The Mattress room”) accommodation.

For those preferring a more private accommodation, there are a few B&Bs in the area, including in the walking distance from the seminar hall.

DINING

There is plenty of space, both indoors and outdoors, to spend time over a meal with friends or if one so chooses, to have a quiet contemplative dinner.

Vegetarian meals are as abundant as they are amazingly delicious. Over the years many have noticed that clothes seem to shrink by the end of the seminar, so this might be something to be conscious of.

If you have different dietary needs, the kitchen will be able to accommodate vegan, gluten free and dairy free diets pretty easily.

Travelling by car:

If you are coming from Salzwedel on the B71, turn left at the crossroads in the village Spithal – it’s only one house on the right and one on the left of the main road – and follow the sign to Schnega. Before you reach Schnega, there are two lanes turning off on the right hand in short distance from each other; take the 2nd exit, to Göhr. This road twists through two small villages, Göhr and Lütenthien. At the T-junction in Lütenthien, turn right and then bear left for 1km until you see the green and yellow sign for Proitzer Mühle. The cluster of buildings beyond the sign, on both sides of the road, is the property. The main house is on the right hand side and has double wooden doors with our logo and name above it.

If you are coming from Uelzen on the B71, the signpost to Proitze is unexpectedly placed on the opposite side of the road. About 3 km past the village of Növenthien, look out for the right-hand turn (there is a slight dip in the road). Follow that to the T-junction in the village Proitze, then turn left into the narrow lane. Having passed the last houses of the village, turn left again and continue for about 1 km until you find yourself in the middle of a cluster of buildings – these are Proitzer Mühle. The parking lot is signposted to the right before you enter the yard. The main house is on the left side of the road.
